Online shopping is quite common nowadays in the developed world he was there about 5 years, but this is not the same in India for its own reasons. For consumers in developed countries to find the websites in the world an ideal place for China, with most products available at prices lower than in a bricks and mortar store. But convenience seems to be an even more attractive as revealed as most surveys Online shoppers find the crowded high street too stressful.
Although online shopping has grown in India, but it is still not widespread as the West and the growth is also limited to certain areas such as booking travel online and may be trading shares (which is in fact not pure e-commerce). The main reason why buyers in India are not willing to shop online is that they do not receive valuable real or incentive. In addition, they are wary of fraud, delivery and customer service and their fears are not imaginary.
The first question that online consumers are facing in India is the narrow range and limited choice of goods. Even the leading sites like ebay.in, indiaplaza.in, indiatimes rediff or have very little variety of items and therefore are hardly attractive. I personally searched many times for books and music titles, among others, in the Indian sites, but rarely found very good product and price never exciting.
In spite of limited range some consumers still want to buy online only for convenience but then this experience is not good. There are too many cases of delayed delivery, damaged or inferior goods, quality issues and even cases of fraud where goods were never delivered.
A Once I bought 3 items at Sify shopping gift my friends and to my horror, I came to know that 3 points one was correct, another been damaged and third once, never sent at all. Needless to say there was no assistance from customer service Sify and my only complaint fell to deaf ears and I was actually cheating. My experience with ebay.in was also bad, I ordered an electric hotplate, which took more than twice the time it was promised, and finally one of the burners, it's gone just after 2 days.
But the worst part of online shopping in India is most goods were actually sold more than the price of the street which is just ridiculous. Some sites like Rediff and Indiatimes Some items do not sell expensive but then they are mostly unbranded and low quality of Chinese goods and waste mainly money. Here in India you can not expect something to your online merchants, no killer or prices offers exciting, no delivery guarantee, no support after purchase or replacement warranty.
So, as the sites of online sales continue to provide initial services to buyers Shoppers India would prefer to shop brick and mortar stores where at least they can inspect the products and return them for replacement or refund if is found to be defective. And this trend is quite natural reason why we could buy inferior products at higher price when there is no commitment to delivery or after sales service. There are people who buy on the net, but in most cases, they are once Customers to think twice to visit again after burning their fingers.
This is not an imaginary story and any can easily verify the facts on the customer satisfaction level of online buyers in India. Just visit any website product review and begin looking for keywords like "ebay". You will find a multitude of complaints and comments damning indeed speak of harassment and misery that these consumers the poorest have faced as they chose to buy online.
However, there is a demand for e-commerce in this country because people have less and less time to shop. I do not need to go to a store to buy books, music and gift items and if I can get a better price and some guarantee of after sales service I'll even buy goods such as refrigerator or laptops of the net.
Consumers today seeking offers very real and are not idiots that you can deceive. I'm sure there are more people in India buy books and music from Amazon than those who regularly shop at rediff or indiantime and they do it because they can count on the Amazon and get the value there, even if they must pay the costs of handling heavy for the distance.
I buy books regularly because amamzon I know I'll find a damn book on this site and did not look around. Their customer service is also impeccable and on most occasions they have delivered before the scheduled delivery date. Exactly, this is the kind of value that the Indian retail sites need to provide Indian customers, because the buyer will find the value it had no problems online shop.
