What is the name of this book?
I’m looking for a book I read a longtime ago that was based loosely on sleeping beauty.
it is a young adult fantasy novel.
It starts with the birth of sleeping beauty and all the faeries are around her giving her their gifts. they give her the gift of long golden beautiful hair with ringlets, beautiful teeth like pearls, deep blue eyes and other assorted things, but they forget to give her the gift of beauty. So sleeping beauty turns out, not be beautiful but very plain. She also is weirdly adventurous.
The story also includes her being raised by bears and working for a blacksmith, almost marrying a prince, fighting sorcerers with her awesome strength and cunning and cutting her hair really short?
I know that’s a lot of vague information but that’s all I remember that was different about this in comparison to the original Fairytale.

There is a series by Patricia C. Wrede and the books are (in order!) Dealing with Dragons, Searching for Dragons, Calling on Dragons, and Talking to Dragons. There are also the Politically Correct stories by James Finn Garner and those are Politically Correct Bedtime Stories, Once Upon A More Enlightened Time (more politically correct bedtime stories), and Politically Correct Holiday Stories. Now I’m by now means big into being politically correct, but these are just HILARIOUS! Hope you like them and sorry I couldn’t pinpoint the one you were thinking of. I too am stumped on a book I read when I was little that I can’t think of. If you figure out the name of this one let me know, it sounds great!
