Do you ask your Dad about what kind of gifts is he giving to his current wife? why?
I always asked my dad what is he giving or what kind of gifts is he giving to his wife (which is now my stepmother). Is this bad?
What is on your mind when you ask this ? Are you just curious if he is buying her an expensive gift or not? or something else is on your mind?
I think the answer depends on each family situation at the time. A few years ago when my husband and I were still dating, one of his daughters HATED my guts. She would ask him these things pretty much to get angry over what she perceived was how much money was no longer available to be spent on her. She was very jealous and angry back then.
Now that she has gotten older and matured and has developed a good relationship with me, she asks her dad what he is giving me for Christmas because she is curious and wants to vicariously share that experience with him. She knows he is happy and excited about the gifts he bought me and she wants to be happy and excited with him.
The real thing for you to keep in mind is not others’ motivations when they ask this question, but your own motivation.
