Engagement Party?
What is the rule of etiquette concerning gifts for an engagement party? What is typically given? The invite states gifts not wanted only the presence of the guests.
I think that engagement parties are tacky in the first place. They are basically asking people to celebrate that in about a year we will all get back together again and celebrate some more. If the invite says no gifts then you should bring a nice card and leave it at that. Perhaps a nice bouquet of flowers for the bride to be if you feel the need to take something.
