What about the “listen-up sound amplifier?”?
I know an elderly person who has trouble hearing and I thought this might be a good Christmas gift. Have you seen these advertised on TV or heard any good reviews about them? I guess people also buy them to hear sounds far off in the distance. I wonder if they work.
Also, anybody know of a good amplified cell phone on the market?
I had something similar to that, and they do work. It’s just that they make everything louder, even noise. If you’re in a room with a loud noise, like a sweeper or something is being used, and someone is talking to you, the listen-up will make the person louder, but also make the other noise louder, so you still won’t be able to hear what is said. In the woods, it does make things louder, but I couldn’t really tell which direction the noise was coming from, so it was difficult to make much use of the thing. I suppose this would be a good gift for them – this way, they can use the amplifier and listen to the TV without jacking up the volume all the way and getting the neighbors mad and making the guests deaf.
